We sat down with David Derry, missionary with Cru‘s FamilyLife, to talk about his unique Stepping Up Ministry to men in prison. David shares the story of his ministry journey that brought him from working with couples in broken marriages to the unexpected joy of discipling men in prison.

David has found that men in prison are some of the most authentic men he has ever met. There is no pretense with these men; they are keenly aware of their own brokenness and the consequences associated with it. Ironically, these incarcerated men are more spiritually free than most “free” men.
