Dreaming with a renewed mind
Do you dream of the future?
When I used to dream about the future, I thought about all the dreams I would have accomplished when I got to a certain age.
The interesting—and perhaps demoralizing—thing is that I’m at that age now. Yes, I’ve accomplished some of my dreams, but they weren’t the mountaintop experiences I thought they’d be.
And then, of course, some dreams never materialized, and others were just fanciful thinking.
Paul helps us think rightly about dreaming. If we can escape worldly desire and discern God’s will, then, and only then, can we be fully satisfied when our dreams are achieved:
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will
be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good,
pleasing and perfect will.
