If one daily tactic guaranteed a positive impact on your leadership, would you do it?

A loaded question, I know. But really … what if it meant your people would feel cared for and your church or organization would flourish?

The one thing I’m referring to is simple enough to remember. In fact, it’s something everyone on your team can do.

Here it is: Pay attention to the little things.

What are some of these so-called little things? Here are some examples:

Regularly check in with people, products, initiatives and issues.
“Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds;”
—Prov. 27:23

Model and encourage integrity even in the details.
“The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.”
—Prov. 11:1

Meet a daily quota of kind words.
“Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.”
—Prov. 12:25

Diffuse conflict.
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
—Prov. 15:1

Listen more than asking or directing.
“To answer before listening—that is folly and shame.”
—Prov. 18:13

Without the little things of leadership, the big picture can become blurry. Lofty goals and grand visions fall apart if we as leaders don’t focus on day-to-day actions like these.
