When I became a leader early in my career, I realized I needed wisdom. How could I get it?

My wife, in her own wisdom, wrote the following verse on a notecard, which I still have decades later:

“Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people,
for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
—2 Chr. 1:10 (NIV)

I reasoned that if Solomon, the wisest man to ever live, began his own leadership development by asking the Lord for this, why shouldn’t I do the same thing?

How did God answer Solomon? In the next two verses, he tells the young king that because he didn’t ask for wealth or victory, but instead wanted wisdom, he would not only receive the wisdom he craved, but so much more.

My question for you today is this: Have you asked the Lord of heaven and earth for wisdom?

I don’t know exactly how he’ll respond in your specific situation, but I can tell you this—he will over-deliver.
